On Sunday morning 24 year old Jamar Clark was shot by police. Many witnesses have said he was unarmed and handcuffed at the time! Police say after they were responding to an assault and that Jamar “interfered” with the paramedics the assault victim. Some police have denied he was handcuffed and complained of misinformation surrounding the incident.

The incident is being investigated by a state agency and Jamar is on life support!

This prompted Black Lives Matter protester to demonstrate in the city. Around 150 people turned up with some camping outside of the police station.

The BLM organisers demand the release of any video footage that may exist of the altercation to try and get the full story regarding the shooting.

Jason Sole, chair of the Minneapolis chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), spoke to Minnesota Public Radio and said:

“We have been saying for a significant amount of time that Minneapolis is one bullet away from Ferguson,”

“That bullet was fired last night. We want justice immediately.”

Jamar Clark has some previous convictions for terroristic threats, aggravated robbery and possessing marijuana (small quantity).
