The things people say these days never seem to amaze me. However, when 56 year old, retired tennis legend John McEnroe declared he could beat Serena Williams, all I could do was laugh….LOUD!
The current tennis analyst sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on his show to discuss the upcoming U.S. Open next week among other things. Before long, the late night host brought up McEnroe playing Serena in a “serious match” when he responded that he could beat the current world’s #1 woman tennis player.
Williams has dominated tennis during her reign and shows no signs of slowing down in 2015. She is going for her fourth Grand Slam title of the year at next week’s U.S. Open. In addition to being the world’s #1 female ranked tennis player, she is arguably the best woman ever to hold a racket.
The CHAMP, as I like to call her, is fresh off her 21st Grand Slam title of her career when she took the win at Wimbledon not long ago.

John McEnroe has always had an enormous ego and seem to be biased against women in the first place, so we shouldn’t totally be shocked he made the comment.
McEnroe retired from tennis in 1992, thus has been out of the game for 23 years.
To be fair, he did “un-retire” in 2006 to play a doubles tournament. However, he even admitted in the clip with Kimmel that he believes doubles isn’t even close to playing a singles match.
This has to be a joke or some sort of charity fundraiser the Jimmy Kimmel show is setting up because there is no way a 56 year old McEnroe should even get in the ring with Serena. She would destroy him on the court.
