Who would have thought making smoothies could result in over $1 million dollars in annual sales? Not sure if he thought it could happen, but Keon Davis is living the reality he has worked to create.

Davis runs a successful smoothie business called Smooth-N-Groove. Their delicious collection of mostly vegan based smoothie collection and fun, innovative and engaging names are proving to be a great for the business and the bottom line, profits.

keon davis truckDavis was inspired as a youngster by the California Raisins commercials. Their smooth moves, great music, sunglasses and soul sparked something in him as a young man. Therefore, when he decided to go into the smoothie business, he used that influence to name his business and use popular dances to name his products.

Some of the names for his smoothies are Tango, Twist, Electric Slide, Nae Nae and many, many more. Davis feels there are always a variety of new dances coming out that get popular, thus he will be able to add more and more to stay relevant.

How did Davis get the idea to go into the smoothie business?

[ADSENSE2]But he got into business through a conversation with a friend. The friend mentioned spending a fortune at the gym on smoothies after his workout. Davis remember his father in law had a smoothie business and got all the recipes from him….and Smooth-n-Groove was born.

Today, Davis has two locations and two smoothie trucks to service Auburn University, a contract he landed not long after starting the company and operating out of the gym where he regularly worked out.

From Black Enterprise: Working within the $8.9 billion dollar smoothie industry since 2011, he is making cold cash. This year alone, his company brought in $469,000 and is slated to make $800,000 next year, with projections of $1.3 million in 2017.

Entrepreneurship is something we believe the black community needs to begin to seriously consider. Thus we are making it a mission to provide stories and insights from successful black entrepreneurs to get the idea in their heads that they can do it.
