The Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity was forced into quick action after a racist chant video surfaced of it’s members over the weekend. The fraternity’s headquarters leaped into action suspending the chapter and all members on the roster.
The chapter at the University of Oklahoma is at the center of the firestorm the posted video is driving. Footage was uploaded Sunday via YouTube showing members singing ‘will never be a ni**er’ in their fraternity.
The scene was a bus, but it is unclear where the group was headed. There were women on the bus as well, but only the young men were singing the racist change. And apparently, the chanting occurred on Saturday, which was the same day the rest of the country celebrated the history of Selma, Alabama.
The video was released to the public via the University organization Unheard. The university of Oklahoma and the President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon acted immediately to shut down the fraternity on campus and suspend all members.
There was rampant outrage and protest on the campus of Oklahoma as a result of the video being released. The fraternity house was vandalized and all members have moved out over night leaving it vacant.
No one is surprised over the reaction of the students on campus, but are grateful for whomever was brave enough film the disasterous song, but share it with someone willing to post it on the internet.
The police are not standing guard outside of the house protecting the asset.
Spray paint covers the building with the phrase, “Tear it down.”
