Everyone’s worse fear in American came true Tuesday. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the first case of Ebola has arrived in the United States.
A man in Dallas has been identified and tested positive for the Ebola Virus, according to the CDC. He flew into the United States fro Liberia on September 20th, 2014. Apparently, he wasn’t sick on the flight and wasn’t showing any signs of the outbreak impacting him.
Illness didn’t set in on the man until Wednesday, Sept. 24th, and didn’t seek any treatment until Friday, Sept, 26th, according to the CDC. However, the man was turned away on Friday by the hospital because the symptoms were not fully formed. On Sunday, Sept, 28th, he was accepted into isolation at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
Since this isolation, it has dawned on hospital officials, the government and general public that this man has been in contact with other people outside of the isolation area. Therefore, the Ebola virus could be lying dormant in other people at this time in the Dallas area.
Officials are working to contact and locate these other people, estimated to be 12 including a few children, in order to bring them in for testing
We will be following this story closely as obvious concerns that this virus might spread quickly to other people and parts of the country. Most people want to ensure the Ebola virus isn’t coming to their community next.
