Charges of domestic terrorism are serious and plastered all around the mainstream and social media. However, this only seems to apply when the terrorist are black or brown skinned Africans, Arabs or Muslims, not white men.
Monday, three white men from Rome were charged with domestic terrorism – conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction and if you were not reading this article, it is likely you have never even heard a peep about it. Are you wondering why? Well, it seems because they are white. Not exactly the image the mass media hopes to spread around the world as the face of terror.
Terry Eugene Peace, Brian Edward Cannon and Cory Robert Williamson waived their rights to an arraignment and pleaded not guilty to domestic terrorism charges and conspiracy to defraud the government. Using weapons of mass destruction could carry a life term in prison.
According to the indictment and criminal complaint:
[ADSENSE2]Peace, Cannon and Williamson — all members of a militia in Georgia — participated in online chat discussions between Jan. 23 and Feb. 15, 2014, that were monitored by the FBI.
During the conversations online, they discussed using guerilla war tactics and planned to launch attacks against a metro Atlanta police station and several government agencies in February 2014.
The three men attempted to “recruit other individuals to join them and to carry out similar operations in those individuals’ home states.”
Peace allegedly told other militia members to choose targets including “road blocks, TSA checkpoints, sheriffs/police conducting operations outside the Constitution” as well as to participate in the “removal of government people who support extra-Constitutional activities.”
In February 2014, the men traveled from Rome to Tennessee for a meeting with an undercover FBI source about getting several explosive devices, including a thermite-mix charge and a dozen pipe bombs constructed for “maximum fragmentation.”
These conversations were recorded with Peace requesting explosive devices and telling the informant the explosive devices were the “key element” to the plan.
Feb. 15th, 2014, the three men were arrested in Cartersville, Georgia, after receiving the explosive devices and other things provide to them by the FBI. This past Monday, January 5th, 2015, the charges were escalated. The charge of use of weapons of mass destruction had to be approved by Washington.
There is a pretrial hearing set for all three men on January 20th, 2015.
