Wendy Williams Apologizes

Talk show host Wendy Williams is apologizing for words that left her without Chevy as a sponsor.

Williams spoke out on her talk show’s Hot Seat segment shortly after Jesse Williams’ powerful speech at the BET Awards a few weeks ago.

The host, known for her gossip topics, spoke out against organizations geared specifically for African Americans, such as historically black colleges and universities, and the NAACP.

To say the Twitterverse went in would be an understatement. It got so heated, Roland Martin spoke up and let Wendy know how silly she sounded.

Well, she has issued an official apology, to those who felt offended by her statements, and even had Roland Martin on as a guest to educate her viewers (and herself).

Some speculate that Wendy only backtracked because of the lost of her show’s Chevrolet sponsorship (Chevy is run by an HBCU alumni).

Whatever the case may be, we’re glad Roland was on to drop a much needed history lesson about why her statements were just plain wrong.

No word yet on if this apology will put the Chevrolet sponsorship back on the table. The contract was due to end at the end of July, and the company stated they’re constantly evaluating their media partnerships.
