Denzel is the man and his wife Pauletta needs big respect too. The pair recently helped raise over $17million towards the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is set to open on September 24.

The power couple held an event at their home on Saturday according to Variety. Shonda Rhimes also needs a mention because this woman put in $10million alone!

Denzel said

“There is such a historical significance to this project,’’ and “It means so much for our community, our country and to future generations.’’

His wife Pauletta Washington, a accomplished Broadway performer and pianist opened the evening with the Lord’s Prayer.

Speaking, she said:

“In this climate where so much money is being raised for the Presidency and The White House, it is incredible to have the support we received,’’ and “It’s good knowing that even with so much going on, people are committed to making sure that this museum is successful.’’
