Surprise, surprise, one of the most notorious and legendary rap groups of all time will receive a great honor in April of 2016. The raw, in your face, truth telling group N.W.A. will be inducted into the famed Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The announcement of N.W.A. being laced with this great honor comes just a few months after their record-breaking biopic movie Straight Outta Compton hit the big screen. The success of the movie revived album sales of the groups materials and must have pushed the realization that this is one of the most successful and influential musical groups of all time.
The announcement of the induction meant different things from those in the group, but so far only Ice Cube and Dr. Dre have spoken out about the pending induction.
“This means that the group’s mark is solidified. We got some of the most creative, talented people in N.W.A that’s ever been compiled in one group. It’s just exciting that the group as a whole gets recognized by the whole industry as Hall of Fame-worthy,” said Ice Cube
“I never thought the type of music we were making would receive such a high accolade. I have always done what I love to do, so to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is unreal,” said Dr. Dre.
Fans all around the world are excited to hear rap group will be blessed with this honor. Maybe it will open the doors for addition rap and hip hop groups to make it into the Hall of Fame. Or better yet, maybe it will give the black community a deeper understanding and appreciation for honoring and cementing the place of their own legends in institutions, organizations and hall of fames of our own.
