Serial Entrepreneur Chris Johnson hit it big on what may be his best and most lucrative idea yet, The Rapid Ramen Cooker. Developing an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age, Johnson began hosting teen dances in high school earning up to $4000 a night. He started a modeling agency during his college years that staffed 50 extras for the Denzel Washington blockbuster “Training Day”. Following college, he then went on to begin a corporate staffing firm, The Johnson Group, after gaining experience in this field.
Who knew that such business savvy and a pack of Ramen noodles during lunch one day would spark a $5 million enterprise? It was the perfect invention for a world in which a staggering 95 billion instant noodle packages are consumed each year! Johnson committed to finding a quick and efficient alternative for avid noodle consumers like himself. He found that “when there’s excess space and excess water, the microwave heats the water and doesn’t actually cook the noodles.” He created a design with the perfect water-to-noodle ratio and Voila! After some hard work, dedication, and a successful appearance on the hit show Shark Tank, you can now find the design in multiple retailers including Walmart and CVS.
In his interview with Comstocksmag.com, Johnson reflected on his father’s guidance and valuable advice to always have two dreams. His primary dream as a young man was to play basketball professionally. He urges that success in the black community should be displayed on a much broader scale, stating “it has to be known that to be successful in life, you don’t have to dribble a basketball. I can’t afford to have silent success.”
