I know most of us are ready to move past the Serena is built like a man conversation, but there are still post and stories flying around the Internet. And as a black man that loves black women, I can’t stand this madness, so please allow me one more piece to shut it down.
Just in case you’ve been living in a hole the past few weeks, Serena Williams has been DOMINATING tennis like no person has ever done it before. She is clearly, hands down the best player the sport has ever seen and is no where near finished.
However, many in the white community have been posting ill things about her body type. Saying the muscular, thick diva tennis legend is built like a man, is on steroids and any other ignorant thing you can imagine to insult this black woman’s body.
…then thanks to the internet, I stumbled across this picture of Samatha Stosur and had to ask the question, “If Serena Williams is suppose to be built like a man, what do you call Samatha?”

It is amazing how the postings via social media about Stosur are anything but man referencing. They talk about her sculpted biceps, bulging muscles and being a gym rat. No mention of how much like a man she looks.
It does bother me to make this man reference because I don’t want to pigeon hold the female body into any corners, but as far as comparing Stosur to Serena Williams….well, ummmm, she looks like a man.
What can I say?
Clearly, this woman works hard in the gym. There is no denying that. And I won’t make the claim that she is on steroids, just dedicated to working out. However, the underlying racism and hate for black women it takes for one to call Serena a man and only shower love and appreciation for Samantha shows many people in this world will just hate us no matter what.
Uh… I’ve called Serena a man for years, but it has nothing to do with her race. Most of us old white men don’t see and use race like you do. I just see a woman who is built like a man. Nothing more, nothing less. Why do you need to make everything into a racial issue. Alinsky… Stop being such a hater and do something productive with your life. And this other one…. Stosur? Yes, absolutely built like a man too. Disgusting to me, but each to his or her own. However, if you think bodies like that come without hormones, steroids or whatever, you’re not very bright. One can achieve much through proper diet and workouts, but bodies like theirs don’t come without extra help.
Neither look at all like men. Serena’s hour glass figure has very big muscles and immense physical strength, but very feminine.
Sam is a beautiful woman, whose fitness and dedication result in her rippling with muscles. She has the physicality and beauty, that she could be a model, actress, body builder or boxer. She is just so ripped and strong.
Both Serena and Sam are beautiful and muscular women!
