Happy new year to all of you wonderful readers of Urban Intellectuals. We truly appreciate you more than you know. It is our pleasure to serve you positive Black news, insight, history and cultural information.

As a new feature during 2017, we have decided to do article features each month. During the month of January, we have decided to launch our Black Inventor series to highlight many of the great inventions Black men, women and children have created.

Here are the three reasons we decided to focus on Black Inventors:

1) To shine a light on our accomplishments

One thing is for sure, if we don’t take the time to highlight the great among us, the Western media and educational system has shown us they sure aren’t going to do it. Thus, if it is to be, then it is up to us….and we proudly have taken the charge.

2) To inspire the youth

Our future depends on how we educate and nurture our children. Let’s do them a favor by not only reading and following the series for yourself, but also share it with your children. Take the lessons to them and let them understand people that look like them have created some of the most important things on the planet.

This let’s them know, they can achieve anything they put their minds to. If the election of President Obama is inspirational for our youth, then so is learning about people who have positively changed the world with their minds, their inventions.
