After 17 Years “Innocent” Man Released When Police Find His Doppelgänger With The Same Name!

It’s been 17 years of Richard Anthony Jones maintaining innocence whilst he sat locked up behind bars for a robbery he says he had nothing to do with.

Based on no physical evidence and only a witness testimony he was sent away for a 1999 robbery that occurred in Roeland Park.

Whilst in jail he heard of another prisoner sharing his first name and looking just like him! So he passed on the info to lawyers and after investigation, they believed Jones was actually innocent.

The case was then handed to a Johnson County judge last Wednesday. By Thursday Jones was free.

A Wednesday hearing brought to light that witnesses were not able to tell the difference between the two men with side by side photos. There was also reportedly other new evidence and Jones always maintained he was with his girlfriend and family when the robbery took place.

He was originally sentenced to 19 years.

OMG! LOOKING AT THEIR SIDE BY SIDE I too thought they were the same man! WOW! This is one of the reasons why police should not be just going on eye witnesses Identifying someone to charge anyone with a crime! This story proved that eye witnesses can be mistaken or wrong in identifying an innocent man! The only thing the police are interested in is charging someone anyone at all even if they know the man is innocent! This is one of the reasons why I will not ever trust the pigs!
