Nuclear is a bit of a feared word but one South Jersey 16 year old wants to change all that. He believes it’s a viable energy alternative and to prove it, start the conversation and push forward he has taken on the task of building a Nuclear Fusor, himself!
This machine uses “electricity to heat charged atoms to a point where nuclear fusion can occur.”. A small reactor, something that to a layman like me sounds really really dangerous!
Still, he is building it with the help of his GoFundMe where he wrote:
Hi! I’m Steven Udotong, a Junior at Cinnaminson High School and I am currently building a nuclear fusor. If I am successful, I will be the first African American student to have accomplished this feat.
My Project
My objective is to build a nuclear reactor in my home that I can use to advocate clean energy use for my community and nation. I have already made immense progress on this, but I hit a roadblock because I need a few more materials to completely finish my reactor.
Nuclear energy shows great promise to drastically reduce our greenhouse emissions and I want to be able demonstrate the potential of this energy in our society and encourage investment into energy sustainability. We only have one Earth and I strongly believe it is important that we maintain it for all future generations as best as we can.
Woah, that’s all I can say! He is already on his way to building the vacuum chambers but he needs more cash! If you want to help, visit his GoFundMe here.
