This morning I excitedly went to YouTube to watch the new trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot. As I excitedly saw the new characters come onto the screen, three clever white women, I wondered where the diversity was.

Then something worse than a diverse cast happened. Patty Tolan, the only black Ghostbuster, comes onto the screen with no skills other than being sassy, being able to get an inappropriate vehicle and knowing the city.

Ok, she is funny, she is clearly the female Winston. I get that! But we are 30 years on, surely the responsibility to better represent, to give kids of all kinds fun, new and diverse role models is important.

This “black woman” cliche is just not acceptable where the white women get the brains.

I applaud an all woman cast but it’s just not far enough….
