{VIDEO} Police Expert Says Tamir Rice Killing Was “Objectively Reasonable”

The fatal shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice on November 23, 2014 garnered national attention instantly. In the wake of police shootings that sparked massive protests in Ferguson, Missouri, Rice’s death further solidified for many that such tragic occurrences weren’t the products of mistake but a deliberate war waged against black boys and men.

According to an expert commissioned by the Ohio prosecutor investigating Rice’s death,
“this unquestionably was a tragic loss of life, but to compound the tragedy by labeling the officer’s conduct as anything but objectively reasonable would also be a tragedy, albeit not carrying with it the consequences of the loss of life, only the possibility of loss of career.”

Along with this report from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s office, new footage has been released showing Tamir Rice and Officer Timothy Loehmann’s encounter moments before the shooting. This report is the most recent of three expert opinions given, all of which deduce Rice’s murder as “reasonable” given the circumstances.
