Antronie Scott was shot dead on saturday night after being followed by an undercover policeman. San Antonio’s KENS 5 reported “According to the department, the officer saw something in Scott’s hands that he believed was a gun. He shot Scott once in the chest, killing him. The object in Scott’s hand turned out to be a cell phone. No gun was found at the scene.”

The officer who shot the 36 year old man is said to be under investigation. A recent news conference was supposed to have a witness speak but it never happened.

Now, The San Antonio Observer, held a news conference to speak on behalf of Scott’s family. Their editor-in-chief, Stephanie Zarriello, said that officers go unpunished because they remain anonymous. The tabloid say they are looking into publishing addresses of involved officers.

Zarriello said: “Just as the names and addresses of sex offenders are publicized in order to protect the public from their wicked behavior, we feel that our community has the right to the exact same level of protection,”
