Students from Low-Income Families Presented with a Great Opportunity to Travel Aboard

The Chicago Urban League launched its travel program in 2013 entitled Project Ready. It is an altruistic grant funded program giving low-income students the ability to achieve their most elevated yearnings through instructive travel encounters. They have been making groundbreaking summer travel experience available to teens that otherwise would not have the opportunity.

Schools, charities and grant projects are progressively offering low-income children an opportunity to see that the world is bigger than Chicago.

The Chicago Urban League has taken children, which for good reason are afraid to play outside in their own neighborhood, to see the world. This is an amazing experience for these students. These scholarships and programs have been awarded to students for years but African American and Latino children are rarely awarded the opportunity to take advantage of such a life changing experience.

The Chicago Urban League is turning on a light in these children showing them what they can accomplish by furnishing them with assets that empower them to achieve their potential. These children are coming from some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in this city.

In neighborhoods where the normal high school graduation rate is under 70%, not as much as half of those graduates are expected to attend college.

Las year, June 2015, students visited China. This summer another group of students will have the opportunity to visit China as well. In 2017 they are looking into a visiting a new country. The Chicago Urban League has given and is continuing to give students that come from low-income families an opportunity of a lifetime.

An opportunity that can completely change their outlook on life and inspire these students to be great!
