Shannon Sharpe Spells Out Why 76ers Were Dumb To Stop “We Matter” Singer Performing

Last Wednesday the Philedelphia 76ers had their biggest game in a long time. They were opening the season at the Wells Fargo Center against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was an important day!

They had asked Rnb singer Sevyn Streeter to sing the anthem and she was there, ready and willing, at the stadium.

However, two minutes before she was due to go on, she was stopped, the team called on a member of their dance squad to sing instead.

And why? Well, Sevyn was wearing a jersey that simple said “We Matter”

She says she was unaware of any dress code and was obviously confused that a fairly non-offensive shirt would cause such a stir.

We Matter is hardly controversial, I mean, she was referencing black lives matter for sure and maybe nodding to recent anthem protests. However, she was singing the anthem, prepared as a black lady to stand proud and sing for her country, words that mean a lot to a lot of people.

The incident has caused some debate and it’s not a suprise it reached the show Undisputed. The show in which the voice of Shannon Sharpe is growing stronger and more powerful every time he speaks on a matter involving a political leaning. He may have just been a baller but this guy seems as #Woke as they can be.

Shannon is a straight talker and he lays it out clear why in all scenarios the 76ers should have allowed the performance to go ahead.

Basically he says, she was going to sing it! It wasn’t a protest, an act where someone defies what they are supposed to do, like Kaepernick’s kneeling! How would it have been different from astars and stripes t-shirt or a Make America Great shirt?
