Last year, October 2014, there was another shooting of a young black man in Chicago by a Chicago police officer. This shooting occurred 8 days before the Laquan McDonald shooting and it was also recorded.
Cook County State’s Attorney, Anita Alvarez, will report the results of the dash-cam footage in a press conference at 11a.m. today.
The police responded after a window was shot out of a car Ronald Johnson was in. All the men got out of the car but when Johnson heard the police coming he ran. Ronald Johnson III, 25, was shoot 5 times while running away from the police.
The family believes Johnson was unjustly killed and have been fighting for a year for the dash-cam footage to be released and for justice for Johnson. The video is rumored to be released soon. The family’s attorney said, within two seconds of getting out his car Officer George Hernandez fired five shots.
