Bill Nunn was a beloved actor, known more recently as Daily Bugle editor Joseph “Robbie” Robertson in Sam Raimi’s Spider Man, with roles in iconic movies like Sister Act and New Jack City to boot.
But, his early performance with long time friend and collaborator Spike Lee in Do The Right Thing followed him everywhere he went.

Nunn’s wife passed the sad news onto the associated press saying that her husband had lost his battle with cancer. He died on Saturday, ages 62, in his hometown of Pittsburgh.
Spike Lee broke the news on social media and has been leading many heartwarming tributes to his friend.
He posted to Twiiter “My Dear Friend, My Dear Morehouse Brother- Da Great Actor Bill Nunn As Most Of You Know Him As Radio Raheem Passed Away This Morning In His Hometown Of Pittsburgh. Long Live Bill NUNN. RADIO RAHEEM Is Now RESTING IN POWER. RADIO RAHEEM WILL ALWAYS BE FIGHTING DA POWERS DAT BE. MAY GOD WATCH OVER BILL NUNN.”
