Public Enemy Rises Again With Version 2.0! Chuck D and And New Emcee Jahi Tackle Todays Issues!

Public Enemy are timeless but they also never left! The pioneering group are still going strong, spitting rhymes and talking of the times. But everything that is still live has to evolve and Public Enemy have done that with awesome style.

They have a new lead, Jahi, a powerhouse of an MC with a style of his own and an unmatched presence. This evolution goes by the name PE2.0

As Wikipedia says:

PE 2.0 is the spiritual successor and “next generation” of iconic New York rap group Public Enemy fronted by Oakland rapper Jahi. Originally from Cleveland Jahi had met Public Enemy frontman Chuck D backstage during a soundcheck at the 1999 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and later appeared as a support act on Public Enemy’s 20th Anniversary Tour in 2007.

Jahi states the task of PE 2.0 is to “take select songs from the PE catalog and cover or reVisit them” as well as new material with members of the original Public Enemy including DJ Lord, Davy DMX, Professor Griff and Chuck D.

PE 2.0’s first album “People Get Ready” was released on October 7, 2014.

“InsPirEd” PE 2.0’s second album and part two of a proposed trilogy was released October 11, 2015.

And, oh man, I have been listening and learning over the last few days to some of the inspiring stuff.

The old guys still have a lot to say but with the injection of Jahi they are seriously one-upping themselves.

Hearing him take on current issues with the old beats, reworking classics and putting in new stuff just shows how ingenious it was of the band to create this new version.

Public Enemy was also relevant yet somehow PE2.0 is even more relevant.

Jahi is an amazing choice. The man is more than an MC. The Oakland resident has a serious place in his community. He is an educator and pioneer of the African-American Male Achievement program in his city’s school system.

He is the director of Oakland’s public schools’ Manhood Development Program, managing 16 public school sites in Oakland.
