This senseless killing drew comparisons with the shooting of unarmed Trayvon by George Zimmerman, however 47-year-old Michael Dunn has been dealt with by the law accordingly and will not be seeing the light of day for some time, we can all hope.

Michael Dunn executed 17-year-old Jordan Davis in 2012 outside a convenience store in Jacksonville.

Dunn went to the store to buy a bottle of wine with his fianće, Davis was in an SUV playing loud hip hop. Dun apparently turned to his girlfriend and said “I hate that thug music,”.

Dunn then entered into an argument over the music volume where he claims he saw Davis had a gun in his hand, so he acted out of self defence. However evidence suggests he was still shooting at the SUV when Davis tried to drive off to escape with his life. He claims the continued shooting was so that no one could fire back.

It took five hours for the Jury to get their verdict on October 1st. The jury was made up of 10 white people and 2 black people and they did not buy the self defence story.

Dunn was convicted of first-degree murder and handing down the sentence Judge Healy was reported to say “Mr. Dunn, your life is effectively over,” going onto say “What is sad is that this case exemplifies that our society seems to have lost its way.”

Cheers erupted as Dunn was handed down a life sentence.

This is in addition to 60 years sentence that he was handed down back in February for shooting at the 3 others in the SUV.
