MAC posted a beautiful picture on their Twitter to market a new lipstick color. The picture featured the immaculate, plump, full lips of a black woman and boy did white Twitter go crazy. The comments were so disgusting and racist to say the least. I read everything from people calling the model a monkey to a nigger, and they say we’re the uncivilized ones.

The media portrays the black race in such a negative light but when things like this happen they are silent. How often do we look at white images and say hateful, nasty things?

How often do they go to surgeons, get injections, and expose themselves to cancer in order to imitate us? They say imitation is a form of flattery but I guess that doesn’t apply to black people. I’m sure if MAC would have chose to have Kylie Jenner and new lips, that closely resemble the black model’s lips, model the lipstick that would have been more appeasing for everyone.

I could never imagine saying a shirt was hideous and then going home and trying to make a replica of it. That is what we endure regularly, a race of people who imitate our looks and mimic our culture yet spew hate and negativity our way. So despite how ugly people have been toward us we have to recognize our true beauty and stop letting imitators define it for us!
