The world of professional sports – whether we like to admit it or not – plays a huge part in our nation’s culture.
And as big as social media is – whether they know it or not – now more than ever sports stars are impacting our lives and the lives of our kids. That is why it is so important for athletes to portray themselves as role models; and there may not be a better one than the NBA’s LeBron James. No matter how much he is attacked for sharing Jesus, he never stops praising him.
It’s tragic news that in today’s sports arenas many Liberals and non-believers have tired to get players into trouble for praising Jesus on the court because they are offended. Well, Lebron James doesn’t care about offending them. So here’s what he does do combat this tragedy. Aside from being arguably the most dominant player in his respective sport, LeBron makes it a point to get involved in his community, whether it be through charitable giving, or spending time at church functions and impacting the community.
What LeBron did the other night, though, has left Christians around the globe cheering. When asked if his team mates returning from injury would be the solution to his problems, LeBron’s response left the room in shock:
“When you get your guys back, you prepare just as you prepare before. There’s only one guy ever in the world that everything will be all right when He comes back and that’s Jesus Christ. Other than that, you can’t bank on nobody being OK.”
Personally, I say the hell with anyone who has a problem with what anyone believes in. Lebron James doesn’t owe anyone a damn thing. As long as he is a positive and righteous person, he can believe in sunflowers and worship them on every day of the week as far as I’m concern. It will pisses me off that some people actually believe that if you don’t believe in what they believe in, you are inferior and should suffer. But hey, that is the western world that we live in.
