The black community around the country has been saying since I can remember the police department has been planting drugs on the men and women of our community. In fact, this was so popular, it was/is a running joke with comedians in the community. Dave Chappelle had a line where he said the officers would, “sprinkle a lil crack on him.”
Turns out, Dave wasn’t joking, neither was the black community.
Recently, a new report from the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Alabama Justice Project reveal these actions were being taken by police officers in Dothan, Alabama. They planted drugs and weapons on thousands of African Americans, ruining their lives, giving them criminal records, placing them in prison and many are still there today.
Who is making these claims?
Some of the actual police officers involved in planting the information are the ones stepping forward to make these claims. The officers say that “The public has a right to know that the Dothan Police Department, and District Attorney Doug Valeska, targeted young black men by planting drugs and weapons on them over a decade.
Most of the young men were prosecuted, many sentenced to prison, and some are still in prison. Many of the officers involved were subsequently promoted and are in leadership positions in law enforcement.
They hope the mood of the country is one that demands action and that the US Department of Justice will intervene.”
They are outting the narcotics investigation squad for the Dothan plice department for their planting of drugs and weapons on African American men since the mid-1990s. And all of this was done under the understanding, supervision and approval of their supervivors, one of which has risen to the state’s Assistant Director of Homeland Security….Andy Hughes.
They go on to reveal they were also members of a neo-Confederate group made of mostly of police officers. Massive corruption, hate and racism at every level.
