As black parents, our children are constantly being scolded and made out to be thugs in the media. We rarely see positive propaganda in the media about our children. The media makes sure to show “Gangbangers” on the news every night. Think about the b.s. going on in Chicago. Fox News make it their business to run loops of how many murders Chicago has.

However, they never talk about how many of those murders are provoked by Chicago Police and other entities.

However, I say all of that to say that parenting of a black child is what you make it. We all have our circumstances, however, circumstances does not take away from your choices. They can either make your choices easier or harder, it just depends on your perspective. Some say raising a black boy is entirely too hard when most of the time the black father is missing. This may be true, but you still have a choice to raise that black boy into something positive. And if done correctly, it can reflect at an early age.

Lets take this next example. This young boy is playing a violin in front of a packed house and is playing it better than most adults. He was not born playing the violin. This means that a parent was involved with him learning the arts and understanding the sound of music. This is beyond amazing. We don’t know the background story here, but what we do know is that it is possible to raise a black boy to be anything they (or you) want to be.

Parenting is the hardest job you will ever love.

Due to the society we live in as black people, your job as a parent may be a little more difficult than others. However, don’t use this as an excuse. Use this as motivation to create a child that is amazing as the young black boy in the video below.
