Australia has not always been the best to it’s Native peoples. In fact, the history is abysmal on so many levels leading to repression and dehumanisation, and serious Aboriginal community problems still at large today.
However, in recent years things seem to be improving significantly with an apology to the Aboriginal peoples and their treatment and a recent land dispute settlement is bring a lot of hope to future actions and relations.
The Australian government returned 52,000 hectares, approx 128,000 acres, of land to the Larrakia people after a 37 year fight in a historic settlement and vowed to give approx $32 million for land restoration.
Australia’s PM Malcolm Turnbull stated
“Today, we formally recognize what Larrakia people have always known.”

Many in the USA are watching the acts of other countries. Maybe a formal apology will come towards the Native and enslaved descendants if this trend continues.
