I often wonder if celebrities are disconnected from what’s going on in the “real world” but a lot of celebrities have been stepping up in a big way to help in whatever ways they can. Jay Z is our latest celeb to help in a major way.

Jay Z’s music streaming platform, Tidal, is donating $1.5 million to the Black Lives Matter organization as well as several other social injustice organizations.

As some of us know Friday, February 5th Trayvon Martin would have been 21 years old and Jay Z chose to make the announcement on that day.

The Travyon Martin Foundation will be receiving a portion of the donation.

The money was raised through a concert held in October by Tidal at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. And some heavy hitters came out perform—Usher, T.I., Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mills, Damian Marley, and of course Beyonce and Jay Z.

The funds are being distributed to the families of victims of police brutality with foundations like the Trayvon Martin Foundation, the Oscar Grant Foundation, and the Michael O.D. Brown We Love Our Sons and Daughters Foundation. Several national organization will also receive a portion of the profits.

Lets not over look this generous contribution.
