A lot of you may or may not remember African American College Alliance (AACA). In the 90’s you could always find the hottest celebrities wearing this apparel. Just watch an old episode Living Single, Martin or the Fresh Prince of Bel-air you’ll see Queen Latifah, Martin Lawrence and Will Smith rocking the AACA brand. You could also find TLC, Biggie, Redman, Snoop Dogg and EPMD wearing the iconic brand in their music videos or on stage at a concert. AACA raised consciousness in the black community and supported HBCU’s. Well they are coming back like they never left.
AACA is newly owned and is ready to take us by storm yet again. They will continue to create “high quality, African American manufactured” clothing that benefits Historically Black Colleges and Universities. A portion of the profits from the apparel will go to HBCUs. Their focus is “on creating awareness of these wonderful institutions to the ‘cool kid’ in your neighborhood!” They believe we must create our own brands and icons.
AACA currently has a kickstarter campaign set up with only 3 days left to donate. They need our support in order to provide clothing in our communities that has meaning and purpose. Let’s help AACA get closer to their goal of creating our own brands and icons! Every little bit will help!
“Don’t just kickstart a brand, reanimate a movement that caused one of the biggest spikes in black college attendance in history from ’91 to ’93 and puts purpose over profits!”
