A Glimmer Of Hope? First Officer Charged In Eric Garner Death BUT…

by | Sep 13, 2016 | News | 0 comments

New York Police Department sergeant Kizzy Adonis has been charged in the 2014 death of Eric Garner, however, this is far from the justice and hope that it should be!

Adonis has been stripped of her gun and badge and is facing internal charges, however, still, not one criminal charge has been filed against anyone involved.

Although the first admission of wrongdoing by the police it still is a long way from what many feel is deserved. Especially as Adonis was a supervisor and not actually directly involved.

So, what has she been charged with?

Adonis heard the call on the radio, when Garner was accused of selling loose, untaxed cigarettes on Staten Island in July 2014. She was close and re-routed herself to the scene.

She has been charged with charged with failure to supervise, which is an internal disciplinary charge.

The head of her Union, Sgt. Ed Mullins, said

“She didn’t have to go there — she chose to go there to help out and look what happens,”

“This incident stems from failed policies that ultimately led to the death of Eric Garner.”

Is this mild charge just more smoke screening and blame diversion?
