American Girl Movies have been going since the first half of the 2000s based on the line of dolls and various merchandise that represents girls of different times and moments in history.

This American Girl movie is set in 1963, Melody is a young African American girl, fighting prejudice and fighting for her right to be who she wants to be.

The movie looks inspiring and cute but not too shy on some of the racial issues a girl like Melody would have faced. You can take a first look in the trailer below.

Set in Detroit during the Civil Rights Movement, “AN AMERICAN GIRL STORY – MELODY 1963: LOVE HAS TO WIN” examines the joyful life and troubled times of an irrepressible 10-year-old African-American girl whose vivid imagination and creativity reinforce her optimism. When shocking national events threaten her sense of security, Melody must find inner strength to restore her hope for a better world.
