There are many tales of overcoming adversary and Daniel Geiter is a name that will surely been in this hall of fame. Geiter a self confessed serial felon had an epiphany in 1998 and vowed when paroled in 1999 to never re-offend.

It took Geiter 9 years after leaving jail to return to formal learning. However such is his passion he is now Professor of Education.

He was helped by many including the Ward foundation, supporters of self-determination for the economically disadvantaged in Chicago.

Geiter’s vision: To give ex-offenders the chance he had.

Well the vision is a reality. The plan to turn a South Side warehouse into a non-profit community college is now a reality and the $250 000 dollars needed is something he is working on. With his passion, effort and drive for achievement, there is little doubt the funds will be generated.

Geiter’s involvement has even included walking 195 miles from Chicago to Springfield to hand in the application licence so much is his passion for the venture and to realize his vision.
