Dubai Ruler Flies Over $300,000 Of Aid to Haiti In His Private Jet

The Emir (ruler) of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum has collected and sent 90 tonne’s of emergency supplies worth well over $300,000 to Haiti on his private jet to help the relief effort after the island tries to recover from the destruction of Hurricane Matthew.

With over 1,000 dead and much of the mass media ignoring the crisis, this help is shorly needed. Over 300,000 Haitans have been forced into temporary shelters and more related deaths are expected to follow.

The Dubai government said that the Sheikh’s wife, Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein has been personally overseeing the operation. They have sent tents, mosquito nets, medical supplies and water purification units.

Princess Haya wrote on her Instagram:

“One image will forever be in mind, when I think of Haiti. I have seen in 2010, the devastation caused, and it was only because I was on an IHC envoy.”

“The same cargo plane I came in today. Again today lives have been erased.

“It is all about what the country needs, but to a certain extent, it is also about what is given.”

She added:

“We, as Arabs, should be bankrupt. We fight on every front, and we have our own to feed and shelter.

“But please, if I can just tell you the sense of humility I knew because my country the UAE had given and my people the Jordanians are there fighting.”

Obviously the help is massively appreciated. Haitians really need all the support they can get, direct support.

However, I have to put a note here, that the rulers of Dubai are not innocent. And as a cynic, this seems rather a diplomatic and PR move, as thousands of Pakistani’s are worked more or less as slaves in Dubai, this practise should not be happening in 2016.
