Djimon Hounsou remains a Beninese-American model and actor from films such as Blood Diamond, Amistad, and just to mention a few.

Hounsou has been selected for Academy Award twice.

Djimon was born in the Republic of Benin, a West African country. The actor has been dedicated to watching how Hollywood rates Africa in movies. With much attention to this subject, Hounsou is calling that the negative view of Africa in Hollywood movies should stop.

Djimon is frustrated on how western media has been reviewing and portraying the continent of Africa in their films.

To the Beninese-American model, the act of the media of the West is racist and misogyny that should not be allowed to continue. For this reason, Djimon has taken to the media to explain his grievances.

Hounsou believes that by always explaining the subject, western media will be able to refrain from this negative act. Djimon has taken a lot of time to study this action before voicing out for a quick correction of the western media.

Africa is a whole continent and should not be ridiculed in any way that will annoy people residing there. Djimon explanation will help the western media to make a quick correction as possible, but no one is holding their breathe.

We must begin making our own images and take control of the images we project to ourselves.
