In fact, he routinely called out the likes of Michael Jordan and others for “bailing out” of our plight as a people and staying quiet.

After one of the championships, President Bush invited the Chicago Bulls to the White House. Hodges appeared wearing a dashiki and handed the President a letter that asked him to end the injustice toward the African-American community.

These actions and Hodges outspoken nature rubbed many in the NBA community and administration the wrong way. They felt his actions embarrassed the league and as a result Hodges never played in the NBA again. He was black balled.

After filing a lawsuit against the NBA in 1996 for being black balled by all 29 teams, Hodges accepted his fate as a civilian, but never stopped fighting for the black community.

We salute you Craig Hodges for being a man of principal and fighting for justice in the black community as the athletes of the 40s, 50s, and 60s did long before you.

Steven Marbury also called out Jordan and said he had been robbing the hood for decades! Watch the video below:

To the best that I can recollect being a Chicago native, every word in this article is true, I do concur.
