I feel pride and respect for this boy. His father died and he is standing up. There is so much going on right now that his talk last week was drowned out a bit by the media but we need to keep his voice alive, watch, talk and share this.
Cameron Sterling, the son of Alton Sterling, stood up to talk about people and the death of his father, he talked about protest, how people should join together and called for unity, peace, no violence.
He said that regardless of race, age, whatever that “Everyone should come together as one united family” and that people should protest, in the right way with, “No violence. None whatsoever.”.
Now many in the community may not 100% agree with this young man but you know what? In these times that’s ok, this man needs to be recognised for what he just did.
His father was just murdered by a racist institution and this boy had the courage to stand up, when parts of him are probably full of rage, and call for unity and love, kindness and respect.
That takes a special person.
My thoughts are truly with him. He is a stand up young man.
Watch him talk below.
