‘The Birth of a Nation’ Does Disservice To Black History And Black Women!

She goes onto talk about the meekness of Nat’s mother and how this is a totally wrong telling, also Nat’s wife also. The use of the rape scene and more…

I’m not for one second saying don’t watch the movie. However, you really need to do your research, learn about the true story and the real role of the players involved.

Use this as a stepping stone and don’t defend it just because Hollywood has allowed a movie where the slaves are fighting back to get through it’s guard. It’s doing that because it’s a popular subject, not because the inudstry gives a damn!

Now is the time to start to share and tell history, accurately, to portray all the players and DON’T FOR ONE SECOND demean the role of black women, who have fought valiantly for rights of black people for as long as can be remembered.
