After Beyoncé’s Grammy performance in 2015 were she performed the gospel song “Take My Hand, Precious Lord”, she released a mini documentary entitled, “Take My Hand, Precious Lord: The Voices.” The eight minute documentary addressed what being black in America really means. It also addressed the unrest in Ferguson and death of Eric Garner.

Unfortunately in America, people are intimidated by black people simply because of the color of our skin. She hopes this documentary not only shows the strength of black men but their vulnerability as well. Several black men shared their experiences with discrimination and prejudice. This documentary shows black men in a positive light, which is important for the progression of our culture.

If we continue to turn a blind eye to the unfair treatment of African American men, women, and children nothing will ever change. So thank you Beyoncé for speaking out with your documentary. We must keep this topic on people’s minds until things change. The video can be found on Beyonce.com and on Beyoncé’s YouTube account.
