I thought we were onto something. I thought that we were about to finally see our unsung hero get called back up to the big leagues. Boy, when I heard that Baltimore Ravens starting Quarterback Joe Flacco got injured and that John Harbaugh was looking to sign Kaep as his back-up QB, I literally raised my hands in excitement. It’s no secret that we here at Urban Intellectuals are huge fans of Colin Kaepernick. We talk about him when there isn’t even a story that the mainstream media is reporting. Man, you have no idea how ready I was to write the triumphant article of Colin finally getting signed to a team. I already had the title in mind. Yet, we’re back to square one.
The fluff reports about Harbaugh possibly signing Colin Kaepernick were made completely false when they signed former Clemson Quarterback David Olson. Olson played for head coach John Harbaugh’s brother Jim at Stanford before he transferred to Clemson. He most recently played for the Kansas City Phantoms of the Champions Indoor Football league. Yup, that’s a minor league team. They chose a minor league quarterback over battle tested Colin Kaepernick, a quarterback who led his team to a Superbowl back in 2012!
To be honest, I just don’t know anymore. It’s obvious the fans of these teams are forcing these teams to not even consider signing Kaepernick due to the threat of a boycott. And these teams are all interested in their bottom line. While we’re all mad, I don’t think Kaep is even phased. He knows that he made the right decision in standing up for himself and his people. Come to think of it, Kaep is probably in a great space! He was just seen walking out of the Roc Nation offices. He might have something in store real soon. Hey, a setback is a set up for a comeback!
The black community is rooting for you Colin! We’re gonna to continue to support you no matter what. Don’t let them break you!
