The Army Corps of Engineers Have Been Directed To Clear The Way For The Dakota Access Pipeline

The Acting Secretary of the Army Robert Speer has apparently directed the Army Corps of Engineers to proceed with clearing the way for the Dakota Access Pipeline to be finished according to Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota, who released a statement on Tuesday.

Speer was said to have told Hoeven and Vice President Mike Pence about the order. In the statement he said:

“This will enable the company to complete the project, which can and will be built with the necessary safety features to protect the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and others downstream,”

This is on the foot of an executive order that was issued last week by President Trump, allowing the pipeline construction to continue after pressure by activists led the Obama administration to stop the project for further environmental review.

This is a big blow to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and it’s many allies who have fought long and hard to stop this project.

It’s also a strong sign of just how much the Trump administration gives a sh*t about the voice of the people and in my opinion this spells very bad news for predominately black areas around the nation.
