#Amandla Stenberg is a very talented and intelligent 16-year-old actress, and now she is the author of a new comic book entitled “NIOBE: She is Life.” Stenberg co-wrote the book with Sebastian A. Jones, and it is illustrated by Ashley A. Woods, and the layout by Darrell May as a tribute to “badass” #Black women.  The comic will be published through Los Angeles-based Stranger Comics (which was founded by Sebastian Jones). The company is a multi-platform company which seeks to produce and distribute narratives about the experiences of people of color.

It is very rare to see comics with people of color in them. That is why it is amazing what Stenberg has set out to do to bridge the gap and give people of mixed races a face in comics. Stenberg is widely known for her activism, social and cultural issues. She is all about speak up and speaking out for women of color who often go misrepresented. According to the Huffington Post Stenberg had this to say in a statement obtained by them, “I was drawn to give voice to Niobe and co-write her story because her journey is my journey. I connect to her mixed racial background and quest to discover her innate powers and strengths, to learn who she truly is.”
