By now, everyone has heard the news that State Attorney Angela Corey has “upped the ante” on the conviction of Marissa Alexander from the 20 years that she originally did not deserve to three times that amount, or sixty years of prison that she does not deserve three times more.
Sixty years in prison for Marissa Alexander, without a dead body. A walk out of the jury park for George Zimmerman, who has the blood of a 17-year old Black male that he harassed, stalked, chased, and then gunned down in cold blood, forever and permanently on his hands.
It is becoming more than obvious that Angela Corey’s problem is not with criminals…not real criminals, but with Black people as accused criminals. According to The National Review, Corey has a penchant for personal vendettas.
She was responsible for having a 12-year old part-Black part-Hispanic male by the name of Christian Fernandez locked up in solitary confinement in an adult jail; and when appointed to handle the Zimmerman case – and this is a direct quote, “Talbot ‘Sandy’ D’Alemberte, a former president of both the American Bar Association and Florida State University, criticized the decision: ‘I cannot imagine a worse choice for a prosecutor to serve in the Sanford case. There is nothing in Angela Corey’s background that suits her for the task, and she cannot command the respect of people who care about justice.’”
The gist of the conversation about Corey is that she runs the state department in Florida like one would imagine House of Card’s “Francis (Frank) Underwood” (Actor Kevin Spacey) would. It is becoming more than apparent that the focus of Corey’s bad attitude in justice weighs heavily on rewarding those who victimize and murder Black people and convicting any Black person so much as accused of a crime, evidence or no.
In Alexander’s case, she also had the unfortunate calling in life to be born a Black female. We Black women know the Angela Corey’s very well.
Alexander’s lack of fortune is not in her birthright inheritance as a Black woman, but unfortunate in the hurling hateful cat claws of an Angela Corey for the sinful crime of trying to defend herself against an abusive husband at the time; and also for saying something in haste of anger while she was at it, the operative curse word being “@ss.”
In her personal vendetta against Ms Alexander, Corey deprived her of her children; and her children of their mother–for no real reason. These are the types of matters that end up affecting Black children for the rest of their lives, and end up getting acted out by these children in other ways when they come into adulthood and can express their anger in their own special way.
Unfortunate as it is to say, there aren’t many Black women out here who have lived past the age of 18 to 21 who haven’t met an Angela Corey-type.
While white woman can scream, hurl insults at people, curse, throw isht-fits in public, stomp all over heaven and earth screaming bloody murder from the moment they rise until they go to bed at night…and demand justice against an abuser who attacks them; for whatever reason, a Black woman who does the same is automatically labeled a “criminal” deserving of spending her life in prison for it, whether she actually harmed anyone or not.
Indeed, a Black woman who has the unmitigated gall to defend herself against an abuser, even a confessed one who acted proud of it, should be jailed for deciding not to keep her mouth shut about it. One should never wonder why most Black women aren’t even angrier than stereotypically perceived.
[Wonder what she’d have gotten if she had set him on fire while he was sleeping instead?]
How many Black women in America have not been subjected to that “angry Black woman” case scenario? Even First Lady Michelle Obama was accused by the Internet gossip-mongers of “throwing shoes” at people in the White House who made her angry.
But to make a long-winded story of inherent racism in America’s justice systems short, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor spelled it out to a federal prosecutor in Texas who behaved like a “real dick” (Jezebel‘s words, not mine).
Jezebel reports “As The Huffington Post reported, ‘Sotomayor took issue with the unidentified [Texas] prosecutor who, while questioning an African-American defendant in a drug case, asked: ‘You’ve got African-Americans, you’ve got Hispanics, you’ve got a bag full of money. Does that tell you — a light bulb doesn’t go off in your head and say, this is a drug deal?’ The first Hispanic Supreme Court justice, Sotomayor wrote that the prosecutor had ‘tapped a deep and sorry vein of racial prejudice that has run through the history of criminal justice in our nation.’ The question was ‘pernicious in its attempt to substitute racial stereotype for evidence,’ she added.”
Pernicious in its attempt to substitute racial stereotype for evidence.
That’s about the size of it. This most recent attempt of Angela Corey’s to make sure Marissa Alexander spends her life in prison over what amounts to a racial stereotype about angry Black women is made highly and exclusively evident, by Corey herself.
And her husband, an admitted abuser who thinks he has gotten away with something, made it worse. He made it worse on Ms Alexander, on himself, and on their children, who will have to read these news stories and hear the “whispers” behind their backs and in their faces for the rest of their lives.
To be sure, if I had a nickel for every single Black man or woman sitting in jails and prisons across America right now who were actually convicted on racial stereotypes substituted for evidence, I’m certain I’d have enough money to take a few thousand people out to a very nice dinner at LongHorn SteakHouse — t-bone steaks, baked potatoes with fixins, dessert, cocktails, and all.
Angela Corey is not the only one like her.
They are all over the nation, they come in white skin, and her kind definitely come in white-skinned males. With this most recent revelation of Corey’s hatred of Black people and Black women, we now know how it is Alexander lost her life and her children under the same prosecutor who helped set George Zimmerman free for killing Trayvon Martin.
The Corey-types are the ones on the judge’s benches and in the prosecutor’s offices across the nation who are supposed to convict criminals; and yet somehow end up being–through their own internalized festering racial hatred–the criminals themselves.

This article is great!!!!
We must wake up as a society; these laws was set up for us; so they can control us to put us back into slavery; as you notice once to been charged with a felony and do not have to be anything that God has not forgiven us for; and one you have did your time; you should be able to get a jOb; and that is not so; I have a criminal record have done my time and everywhere I go to seek employment the answer is we do not hire felonies; what is a felony it was something you may have done; may have not been intentionally or may you did not do but was wrongfully charged; or may you did it and was very sorry about it; it is all designed to put us all back into slavery; look at how they treat our President; because He knows what they are up to and have been doing for a very long time; and it is all design for them to control us; or to make us stay at a level that we may not overcome; but I know a God that knows all and sees all; and we all will be judged; and their is a lake of fire that God talks about that they don’t want you to know about; but the laws are not written for there culture it is designed for us; because we cannot come together and put a stop to the matter; we have to much going on until it happens to you. Look at Trayvon killer; and look at Alexander; did she kill anyone; no so that is where we should be willing to draw the line; and Angela Corey when she was elected her desire is to lock all of us up, because that was a plan when she was sworn into office; and she said out of her very own mouth; if anyone can remember; but we must remember we all are subject to God.
