We often talk about businesses in the black community and how we need more of them and those that we have aren’t catering to or giving back to the black community. This line of thinking seems to be common amongst many in the diaspora especially as it relates to the United States. While we could get into a discussion about the validity of both parts of that statement (and I’m sure we will at some point), I would instead like to draw your attention to a business Based out of New York.
On The Edge (OTE) LLC, is a business that has been actively carrying out its very open mission of providing goods, services, and training to African Americans and Latino people in the United States. The company has 5 subsidiary companies and has a range of products from a radio show with over 20,000 listeners to a specialty cake design and making service. When you begin to talk about businesses that are apologetically black, all you have to do is listen to the radio show with CEO Kaydee Barnett and you get a good grasp of where her heart is and thus where the company’s heart is.
So with all that said, what are we going to do? I am bringing this to your attention because we are frequently talking about the failure of black businesses to support Black America, will we in Black America support this business? More information can be found here: http://huefunder.com/campaigns/ote-incorporated-llcon-edge-show/. Go and show your support for an organization that is trying to support you and has been trying to support you for the last 8 months.
