True Detective’s first season was TV at it’s finest. Down and dirty, complex character interaction with gritty Southern soul and an epically tense story. I waited with anticipation for Season 2, and oh my god, I was hit in the face with a shovel. It was like some comedic comic humor noir, an absolute mess!

So, honestly season 3, I have not been so enthused BUT, BUT…. News is just in that it could be staring Mahershala Ali…. My interest has re-peaked!

The Oscar winner is an amazingly fine actor, capable of the depth needed to pull off a season 1 matching performance. Bring back Rust and well, these two would make for potentially some of the best TV we’ve ever seen.

He is allegedly in talks but no contracts are signed as yet. Fingers crossed!
