Angela Evelyn Bassett have launched a skin care product specifically tailored to meet the needs of dark-skinned women. The 57-year-old actor came up with the idea of this product after suffering from personal problems with her skin.
She realized that the available products in the market do not offer solutions altered to meet the skin problems faced by dark-skinned women.
For example, hyperpigmentation is highly common in African American women. In this condition, some parts of the skin become darker than others and are creating an uneven skin tone.
Hyperpigmentation can affect anyone, but it is mostly common in African American and Latino women.
How did she do it?
Well, Bassett acted in numerous roles in major films including What’s Love Got to do with it (1993), Malcolm X (1992), and The Rosa Parks Story (2002) among others. Based on her success work in film, it is not surprising that she has talented friends and fans.
One of her friends, Dr. Barbara Sturm is her partner in this endeavor. Sturm is a prominent skin expert and Bassett was actually using her products, until they decided to go for a product line that takes into account to skin issues that affect dark-skinned women.
The product line took two years of research to perfect, but it is now available for the mass market. The name chosen for it is Darker Skin Tones by Barbara Sturm.
