Last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court made history, when it legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. In response, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe (pictured right) mocked the new law by asking for U.S. President Barack Obama‘s hand in marriage, reports Malawi 24.
After Supreme Court Justices voted 5 to 4 in favor of same-sex marriage in the Obergefell v. Hodges case, President Obama likened the ruling to “a thunderbolt,” concluding that the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States “will strengthen all of our communities” and is ultimately a “victory for America.”
In light of the controversial ruling, President Mugabe said that he would divorce his wife, Grace, of 19 years to travel to the White House and ask for President Obama’s hand in marriage.
“Since President Obama endorses the same-sex marriage, advocates homosexual people, and enjoys an attractive countenance — thus if it becomes necessary, I shall travel to Washington, D.C., get down on my knee, and ask his hand.”
