Setting a precedence, DePaul University does something amazing and cancels their event that was intended to be hosted at Trump Tower in Chicago. Several students from DePaul University College of Law expressed concerns about hosting the university’s annual Barristers’ Ball at this location.

These concerns were brought to the University’s attention before yesterday’s Trump rally which was cancelled in Chicago. Trump represents everything that is wrong with this country so to continue to make this man filthy rich doesn’t make sense.

DePaul is opting out of their contract.

According to NBC5 Chicago, associate dean of students affairs said, “It is important to us all that this event be held at a venue that all of our students feel welcome and comfortable at”.

The university’s decision to host the event at a venue whose values mirror their school’s values is important. Also the fact that school is listening and acting on the concerns of their student body is every uplifting.

They could have complained about how expensive it will be cancel the contract, they could have complained about the inconvenience of finding a new location but instead they did what was in the best interest of their students, very admirable.
