I’m a proud father of two young boys and I take great pride in that. But hearing this 9 yr old talk on the importance of fatherhood is fascinating. He talks about not dogging out men who are bad fathers, but talking to them, teaching them, and encouraging them to become better fathers to their children.

He hints at the fact that mothers and fathers need to work together. This may seem like common sense to you, but think about how many black kids are without mothers, father, or just a normal family. We even see it play out in the media with celebrities like Ciara and Future. Its a bible verse that says it takes a village to raise a child. Yet in our community, we take pride in being single parents.

That isn’t something to be proud of. It is actually damn right retarded. What type of image are you giving the child? That having a broken family is cool if you are financially strong enough to handle it. Look, children need both parents. And it is up to the parents to work that sh&t out. Get it done.
