I wanted to bring you Urban Intellectual readers something light today, some inspiration for your viewing pleasures. Their are about 12 must see films this year being released by and about African-Americans including: Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Fruitvale Station, 12 Years a Slave, and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

There is also a good deal of films coming over from Africa. They are Nollywood in genre. Some are fantastic, yet its good to see the world from another perspective. Opening in NYC on Sept 13 is Mother of George. A wonderful director whose original work was Restless City.
